Vitamina Cetilar wins the Swan Tuscany Challenge

A new, important success for the Club Swan 36 Vitamina Cetilar, which won the Swan Tuscany Challenge at Scarlino, in Maremma, this afternoon, the first leg of the Nations League exclusively for One Design boats by Nautor’s Swan.

Steered perfectly by Andrea Lacorte, assisted by Gabriele Benussi (tactician) and Alberto Bolzan (trimmer) both from Trieste, Vitamina Cetilar, had already triumphed at the Warm Up held in mid April, again in Scarlino, and has now concluded four days sailing with a score, which considering the overall level of skill, can only be described as impeccable.

For the team representing the Yacht Club Repubblica Marinara di Pisa participating in the regatta with the support of Cetilar®, owned by pharmaceutical firm PharmaNutra – a brand of medical applications based on cetylated esters (CFA) for the treatment of muscles and joints, available in cream, patch and tape formats, this marks three victories, a second place, three thirds, two fourths and two sixths in their eleven races, which together form a well-earned first place in the final ranking two points above GSpot coming in second, and three points more than Farstar, who arrived third. A heart-pounding final with Vitamina Cetilar and GSpot head to head as they went into the last race, then thanks to Vitamina’s third place and GSpot’s fifth, victory was ultimately confirmed.

“I’m really pleased. Doing it all again after the warm-up wasn’t easy, but this week we’ve been on top form, made very few mistakes and satisfaction doubles if you also consider the masterful skill of our opponents, some of whom were just back from the Auckland Coppa America,” explains helmsman Andrea Lacorte, who is particularly satisfied by the weather conditions faced over the last few days in the gulf of Follonica. “Winning at the last regatta was truly thrilling and magical. As I said at the beginning of the season we are heading in the right direction but there is still a long way to go. So, celebrating this achievement is great but we can’t lose focus of the races still to come.”

The Club Swan 36 season is still at the start and, after Scarlino, the Nations League fleet will be dropping in at Porto Cervo, in Sardinia, at the end of June, followed by Palma de Majorca, in the Balearic islands, between August and September, and the grand finale at Saint-Tropez, in France, where the World class championships are scheduled to take place in mid-October.

Meanwhile, Vitamina Sailing, under Andrea Lacorte’s command, will be tied up in a double transfer to Aarhus, in Denmark, where two legs of the European M32 Catamaran circuit are due to be held in June and July. This is a challenge that Vitamina Sailing will be facing with two boats: the first with Andrea Lacorte at the helm (also on board will be English Champion Ian Williams and Team Manager, Matteo De Luca) and the second with Marco Radman in command, with Italian Olympian (Rio 2016) Vittorio Bissaro.

Offshore, on the other hand, will be staying in Tuscany for the moment, in Livorno, where at 2pm tomorrow, the famous open-sea regatta, the 151 Miglia-Trofeo Cetilar, is due to take place with 250 boats on the starting line.
