Registrations now open for the eleventh edition of the 151 Miglia – Cetilar Trophy

Following the record number of competitors in the last edition, this afternoon the 151 Miglia opened the registrations for the 2020 edition, confirming its renown as one of the most popular regattas in the offshore sailing season.

The eleventh edition of the 151 Miglia-Cetilar Trophy has officially begun with the publication of the new Notice of Race and the opening of the online registrations.

A key event in the run-up to the actual start of the 151 Miglia 2020 (planned for 30 May off the coast between Livorno and Marina di Pisa, the route covering Giraglia – Elba – Formiche di Grosseto and arriving at Punta Ala), which in recent years has also become a race to register, to make sure of a place in what has become the most popular offshore regatta in the Mediterranean. Last year the event had a record number of registrations, with over 40 yachts signing up in the first 24 hours.

Organised by the Committee including the Yacht Club Repubblica Marinara di Pisa, Yacht Club Punta Ala and Yacht Club Livorno, with the cooperation of the Port of Pisa, the Marina di Punta Ala and the partner PharmaNutra S.p.A. with its brand Cetilar®, this year too the 151 Miglia will be one of the stages of the FIV Italian Offshore Championship, the Mediterranean Maxi Offshore Challenge, the regatta circuit reserved for Maxi Yachts, and the Tuscan Archipelago Trophy.

In 2019, when the regatta celebrated its tenth birthday, there were 250 competitors registered (220 yachts actually at the starting line). These are huge numbers for a non-mainstream sport like sailing, and this led the Organising Committee to set a maximum number of registrations for safety reasons, above all for managing the starting line moorings between the Port of Livorno and the Port of Pisa.

In the coming weeks, details will be published on the events planned for the weekend prior to the race (22-24 May), with lots of new events, while between late February and early March the official regatta magazine will be published, with a new concept, “151 Points of You”, the claim of an edition that promises to be spectacular.
