Vitamina Sailing on the podium in Villasimius

The first leg of the Nations League 2023, the regatta circuit reserved for Nautor Swan monotype boats that made its début last week in Villasimius, Sardinia, was marked by very unstable weather.

Twenty-eight yachts lined up for the regatta, divided into three classes, 13 of which in the top Club Swan 50 class, starring Vitamina Cetilar – racing as usual for the Yacht Club Repubblica Marinara di Pisa with the support of the sponsor Cetilar®, the brand of the PharmaNutra pharmaceutical company.

The yacht, sailed by the Vitamina Sailing team and captained by the entrepreneur Andrea Lacorte (along with the English tactician Nic Asher and Alberto Bolzan on the sails), ended the four races fought over four days in second, sixth, eleventh and fifth places. Thanks to these results, Vitamina Cetilar ended the Swan Sardinia Challenge in third place on the podium, just two points behind the second place, won by Drifter Sail, and ten behind Stella Maris, who won this first event in the Nations League. The Spanish Nadir and English Black Seal teams took the other leg wins, respectively in the Club Swan 42 and Club Swan 36 classes.

For Vitamina Sailing, following its victory on Lake Garda last month, in the first leg of the M32 catamaran circuit, this is an excellent start, considering the very high level of the Club Swan 50 class, where the crews involved count on many sailors who starred in the last editions of the Olympics and the America’s Cup.

“Yes, we are satisfied, with both the results and the performance, even though of course our goal remains that of reaching the highest step on the podium,” captain Andrea Lacorte declared. “It was a very complicated week in weather terms, the regattas we completed were tough to handle, and not by chance in the end the overall ranking was very short, with very few points separating many boats. The level was really very high, so ending up on the podium was a great result, that also boosts our confidence for the rest of the season.”

The Vitamina Sailing season will continue on two fronts: in late June, the crew captained by Lacorte and the Team Manager Matteo De Luca will be busy with the Club Swan 50 in the second leg of the Nations League 2023, again in Sardinia but this time in Porto Cervo, while the appointment with the M32 catamaran circuit is in mid-June on Lake Garda.
