Accessibility Statement

Pharmanutra S.p.A. – website https://www.cetilar.com
First published: 10/09/2025 · Last updated: 06/11/2026 (DD/MM/YYYY)

Pharmanutra S.p.A., headquartered in Pisa (Italy), Via Campodavela 1, Tax Code and VAT no. 01679440501, is committed to making its website and e-commerce service accessible, in compliance with Italian Law no. 4 of 9 January 2004, as amended by Legislative Decree no. 82 of 27 May 2022, which transposed Directive (EU) 2019/882 on the accessibility requirements for products and services (European Accessibility Act), and with the Guidelines issued by the Agency for Digital Italy (AgID).

This accessibility statement applies to the website https://www.cetilar.com, in its Italian, English and Spanish versions, including the online shop.

Description of the service

cetilar.com is the official website of Cetilar® and Cetilar® Nutrition products. The website offers:

  • information about the products, scientific research, athletes, events and Magazine articles;
  • an online shop with catalogue, product pages, cart, wishlist and purchase with payment by card (Stripe) or PayPal;
  • a reserved area, with sign-up and sign-in, to manage personal data, addresses and orders;
  • contact and newsletter sign-up forms.

How to use the service

The purchase process consists of the following steps: choosing a product from the catalogue or via search, selecting the quantity on the product page, adding it to the cart, signing in or signing up to the reserved area (or purchasing as a guest, where available), entering shipping and billing details, choosing the payment method and confirming the order. After the purchase, an order summary email is sent.

The website can be used with the main up-to-date browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge), on computers, tablets and smartphones, including via keyboard and with the most common assistive technologies (e.g. VoiceOver, NVDA, TalkBack), subject to the limitations listed below.

Accessibility features of the service

  • The language of each page is declared in the code, so that screen readers pronounce content correctly.
  • Responsive layout that adapts to the device screen without horizontal page scrolling down to a width of 320 pixels; zoom allowed up to 300%.
  • Pages organised into identifiable main regions (header, navigation, main content, footer) with descriptive page titles.
  • A “Skip to main content” link, shown on the first press of the Tab key, so that the menu does not have to be crossed on every page.
  • A clearly visible focus indicator on all interactive elements during keyboard navigation.
  • Language menu, account menu and cart operable by keyboard: open with Enter or Space, move between items with Tab or the arrow keys, close with Esc, with focus returned to the original button.
  • Icon-only buttons (account, cart, cart close, menu, search) have a name that screen readers can announce.
  • Sign-in, sign-up and contact forms have visible labels associated with their fields, indication of required fields and autofill for personal data; error messages are linked to the related field and announced by screen readers.
  • Alternative text on catalogue product images.
  • The videos at the top of the home page play only on mouse hover; the video in the partners section has a pause button.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the requirements of Annex A of standard EN 301 549 (WCAG 2.1, level AA), due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

a) Non-compliance with Italian Law 4/2004

  • Colour contrast (criteria 1.4.3, 1.4.11). Some text and graphical elements do not have sufficient contrast against their background, in particular green prices and promotional labels in the catalogue and product boxes, breadcrumbs on product pages, some green buttons, white text on the green background of drop-down menus, disabled pagination items and form field borders.
  • Images and galleries (criteria 1.1.1, 2.4.4). Images in the photo galleries of the Athletes and Events pages and in the product page gallery lack alternative text; the related enlarge links have no accessible name.
  • Product page (criteria 1.3.1, 2.1.1, 4.1.2). The quantity selector has no label; the “Add to wishlist” button uses an ARIA attribute that is not allowed for its role; on some product pages, when its content scrolls, the product details panel cannot be scrolled with the keyboard.
  • Moving content (criterion 2.2.2). The background video in the header of the Science page, the scrolling strip of partner logos on the home page and the rotating messages in the top bar move continuously and cannot be paused.
  • Content structure and titles (criteria 1.3.1, 2.4.2, 2.4.6). The Shop, Science, Athletes and Events pages and the Magazine article list have no headings structuring their content; on the Contacts and Sign-in pages and the information pages, heading levels are not always in sequence; on the checkout page the main content region is marked twice; the page title of this statement and of the error page does not describe their content.
  • Magazine articles (criteria 1.1.1, 1.4.1). Some articles, imported from previous websites, contain images without alternative text and links distinguishable from the text by colour alone. These articles are being reviewed.

Accessible alternatives. If any content or function of the website is not usable, please write to [email protected] stating which content you are interested in: we will do our best to provide the same information in an accessible format or to help you complete your purchase.

b) Disproportionate burden

No exemptions for disproportionate burden have been invoked.

c) Content outside the scope of the legislation

There is no content excluded from the scope of the legislation. The payment components (Stripe and PayPal) and the cookie consent banner are provided by third parties: any accessibility issues found in these components can be reported using the contact details below.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was updated on 06/11/2026 on the basis of an assessment carried out by a third party: the analysis was performed by Bloomart S.r.l., the web agency responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the website on behalf of Pharmanutra S.p.A., by staff with specific technical expertise in digital accessibility.

The assessment is based mainly on manual checks of the WCAG 2.1 level A and AA success criteria, carried out on a representative sample of pages and on all page templates of the website (home page, catalogue, product page, cart, sign-in and sign-up, Science, Athletes, Events, Magazine and article, Contacts, information pages), in Italian, English and Spanish:

  • screen reader tests: use of content, navigation, forms and interactive components with assistive technologies, checking accessible names and roles, alternative text, heading structure, page language and how states and messages are announced;
  • usability tests of the main journeys: finding and choosing a product, adding it to the cart, signing up and signing in, contact form;
  • full keyboard navigation: focus order and visibility, skip link, language and account menus, mobile menu, side cart, forms, absence of focus traps;
  • visual checks: colour contrast, use of colour, text resizing and content reflow down to a width of 320 pixels (equivalent to 400% zoom), text spacing, moving content, display on mobile devices;
  • forms: labels, indication of required fields, autofill, error handling and announcement;
  • multimedia: behaviour of videos and animations and availability of pause controls.

In support of the manual checks, automated analysis tools were used (axe-core 4.10, WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 level A and AA rules) on 208 pages of the website (all pages and product pages listed in the Italian, English and Spanish sitemaps, the sign-in, contact and information pages and the error page) and on a sample of Magazine articles.

In addition to the WCAG 2.1 criteria, the new level A and AA criteria introduced by WCAG 2.2 were also checked with automated tools: on some product pages the breadcrumb links and some links in the product description do not meet the minimum target size or spacing (criterion 2.5.8). These criteria are not part of the requirements of standard EN 301 549 on which the compliance status is based and will be taken into account in future reviews.

The statement was last reviewed on 06/11/2026. It is reviewed at least once a year and whenever substantial changes are made to the website.

Further information: work carried out with this update

Compared with the previous statement of 10/09/2025, the following issues, among others, have been resolved:

  • added a “Skip to main content” link and made the keyboard focus indicator visible on all interactive elements;
  • language menu, account menu, mobile menu and cart made fully operable by keyboard, with their state (open/closed) announced to assistive technologies; menus and cart close with the Esc key and return focus to the original button; when the cart opens, focus moves inside it;
  • icon-only buttons given an accessible name in the page language; ARIA attributes that were not allowed removed from the menus;
  • sign-in, sign-up and contact forms: visible labels associated with their fields, autofill attributes, error messages linked to their fields and announced;
  • improved contrast of form field labels;
  • links in privacy consent texts and in the information pages (privacy, cookies, terms and conditions) are distinguishable without relying on colour (underlined);
  • on smartphones, the text of the “Add to cart” button in the product grid is no longer truncated, and breadcrumb items on product pages wrap even when text spacing is increased;
  • fixed an invalid list in the Spanish version of the Terms and Conditions.

Improvement plan

Work on the remaining non-compliances will be planned from 2027, except for the review of the Magazine articles, which is already in progress, with the following priorities:

  1. review of the Magazine articles imported from previous websites (already in progress);
  2. product page: label for the quantity selector, fix of the “Add to wishlist” button, keyboard-operable details panel, alternative text and accessible names in the gallery;
  3. alternative text for the photo galleries of the Athletes and Events pages;
  4. heading structure, page titles and structure of the checkout page;
  5. pause controls for moving content;
  6. review of colours with insufficient contrast, consistently with the brand's visual identity.

This statement will be updated whenever significant changes are made to the website and, in any case, reviewed at least once a year.
